Frequently Asked Questions

How many participants can I add to the working hours overlap calculator?
There is no hard limit on participants. The visual timeline and overlap calculation handle all participants simultaneously. The more participants you add, the narrower the overlap windows typically become.
Does the calculator handle Daylight Saving Time (DST)?
Yes. DST is automatically applied based on the date you select. Each timezone has its DST start and end dates configured (US, EU, Australia, New Zealand). Selecting a date during a DST transition period correctly shows the adjusted UTC offset for each timezone on that specific day.
Can I set overnight working hours that span midnight?
Yes. If a participant's end time is earlier than their start time (e.g. 10 PM – 6 AM), the calculator treats it as an overnight shift spanning midnight. This correctly handles night shift workers and teams in Oceania with schedules that cross midnight UTC.
What does the visual timeline show?
The timeline shows a 24-hour UTC grid. Each participant row highlights their working hours in purple with their local time beneath. A green overlap row shows windows where all participants are simultaneously available. A red marker shows the current UTC time when today's date is selected.
How do I share the schedule configuration with my team?
Click "Copy Shareable Link" to generate a URL that encodes your full configuration (date, participants, timezones, working hours). Anyone who opens the link will see the same setup pre-loaded in their browser — no account or install required.
What does the minimum overlap setting do?
The minimum overlap filter removes windows shorter than the specified duration (default: 60 minutes). This prevents very short windows from cluttering the results. Set it to 30 minutes for quick syncs or 90–120 minutes for planning sessions.
Is my schedule data private?
Completely. All calculations run locally in your browser — no data is ever sent to a server. The shareable link encodes your configuration directly in the URL using base64; nothing is stored on our servers.
Can I export the overlap results to a CSV or calendar?
Yes. Each identified overlap window has an "Export CSV" button that downloads a CSV file with the start and end time in each participant's local timezone. You can also use the "Copy" button to paste times as plain text into an email or calendar invite.
