The average human reaction time is 200–250ms. Under 200ms is considered above average, under 150ms is pro-gamer level. Most people score between 220–280ms on their first attempt.
Age, fatigue, caffeine, and practice all affect reaction speed. Younger people and those who game regularly tend to react faster. Fatigue and alcohol significantly slow reactions.
Natural variation of ±20–40ms between rounds is completely normal. Anticipation, blinking, and microsleep events all cause spikes. Take the average of 5+ rounds for an accurate baseline.
Yes, consistent practice can shave 20–50ms off your average over weeks. The gains come from muscle memory and reduced cognitive processing time, not faster neural signals.
Browser-based tests add 10–50ms of inherent latency from monitor refresh rate, browser input handling, and JavaScript timers. Scores here will be slightly higher than laboratory measurements, but are consistent enough for training and tracking progress.
