JPG uses lossy compression, so yes — some quality is lost. At 85–95 quality, the difference is virtually invisible for photos. For graphics with sharp edges or text, PNG may look noticeably better as it is lossless.
PNG is lossless and stores every pixel without compression loss, which typically results in larger files than JPG for photos. This is expected behavior — PNG is not designed to minimize photo file size.
The tool accepts SVG input and will rasterize it to the selected output format. Note that SVGs are vector graphics, so you may want to convert at a specific size. The tool uses the SVG's native dimensions.
85–90 is the standard recommendation for web use — excellent visual quality with significant size reduction. Use 95+ for print or archival purposes. Below 70 will show visible compression artifacts on photos.
